Important Information About Procedures for Opening a New Account: To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal Law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.
The owners of many accounts name payable-on-death (POD) beneficiaries for the accounts. That means that when the account owner (or the last surviving owner, in the case of a joint account) dies, the POD beneficiary can simply claim the money from the Credit Union. In most cases the deceased person's will does not come into play, nor is probate court involvement required.
POD designations are widely used because they're simple both for the person who sets them up and the beneficiaries who inherit. Please indicate below if you would like to include a beneficiary at this time.
