Once again, a bright and hard working group of high school students applied for BCU’s college scholarship awards. Sifting through many great applications was a challenge, but BCU’s Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that Christopher Maier and Kristen Miller are our 2008 scholarship recipients. Each received a $500 award toward their fall college education. Christopher, a DC Everest grad plans on attending Northcentral Technical College next year, studying Plumbing and Business Management. Kristen’s interests are leading her to the Veterinary Technician Program at the Madison Area Technical College. Both students had excellent qualifications, references, and impressive goals for their futures. If you know either of these delightful students, be sure to congratulate them on this achievement!

Unique to this year, the board of BCU chose to give a first-ever Entrepreneurial Scholarship Award of $500 to our own Peter Vang. Peter is the first student employee of the Everest Branch of Brokaw Credit Union who was recommended by his teachers to take on the role. It was both the staff’s and management’s opinion that Peter has done an exceptional job serving as the original “face” of the student branch. Peter is respected by his teachers and peers, and he has earned our respect as well in his conduct, maturity and willingness to accommodate the needs of our credit union. We all shout a congratulatory hurrah for Peter!
