BCU Looking for Board Members

As credit unions are governed by local folks who are its members, Brokaw Credit Union is looking for willing volunteers to consider serving on its board of directors. Each seven-member director is elected by the membership to serve a three-year term. The Board sets the policy and directs Management in the overall running of the Credit Union. Here’s an abbreviated glance at the responsibilities, duties and qualifications:

Basic Responsibilities:

• Make strategic decisions regarding the course of action for the Credit Union by establishing objectives, formulating policy and approving goals and programs.
• Ensure the Credit Union meets all federal and state regulations and guidelines.
• Attend and actively participate in monthly Board meetings and the annual planning session.

Basic Duties:

• Thoroughly review Board packets prior to each Board meeting.
• Be aware of state and federal political issues regarding the credit union movement.
• Attend monthly Board meetings, Annual Membership Meeting,

Board Members Qualifications:

• Must be a member in good standing with the Credit Union.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be bondable by the Credit Union’s fidelity bond company.
• Must authorize a criminal background check and credit check.
